We are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment where racism in any form is not tolerated. Racism has a harmful impact on students’ wellbeing, sense of belonging and learning outcomes. We proudly celebrate the diversity of cultures, ethnicities and faiths within our school community. Everyone has a shared responsibility to ensure our school is a place where all students feel respected, valued and safe to learn.
Toolern Vale & District Primary School follows the Department of Education’s Preventing and Addressing Racism in Schools Policy: https://www.vic.gov.au/preventing-and-addressing-racism-schools
We are actively working to build a culturally safe and inclusive school community through partnerships with staff, students, families, carers and the wider community. This includes:
delivering learning programs that promote diversity, inclusion, cultural understanding and the impact of racism
embedding inclusive practices that support every student to thrive
implementing clear anti-racism strategies to prevent and respond to incidents of racism
ensuring there are safe, accessible and trusted ways for students, families and staff to report racism
If your child experiences or witnesses racism or religious discrimination at school, we encourage you to let us know as soon as possible. We are committed to responding promptly and supporting all students involved.
If you need an interpreter to contact the school, please refer to the Department of Education’s interpreter support information, https://www.vic.gov.au/education-and-training/using-interpreters-schools
