At Toolern Vale & District Primary School, our curriculum is organised to provide meaningful and connected learning experiences that align with Victorian Curriculum 2.0 standards. It emphasizes the development of essential knowledge, skills, and capabilities necessary for our students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Teachers engage in professional learning opportunities to enhance their skills and stay updated with current research and educational trends. This collective effort ensures that teachers are equipped with the knowledge and resources to provide high-quality instruction and wellbeing support that is aligned with the Victorian Teaching and Learning (VTLM 2.0) model.
Teachers use a gradual release approach to explicitly introduce and model new learning, supporting all students to develop understanding and confidence. Students then strengthen and retain this learning through regular daily review practices that utilise retrieval, spaced repetition and interleaved practice to support long-term memory and deeper understanding. Teachers and Education Support staff engage in inclusive practices and scaffold a range of supports to meet the needs of individual learners.
