At Toolern Vale & District Primary School, our Arts program encourages students to create, perform and express their ideas with confidence. In line with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, all students participate in both Visual Arts and Performing Arts through a two-year cycle.
Through creative experiences, students learn to make and share their own work, respond to others, and reflect on their learning.
Students explore and create using a range of materials and techniques, including painting, drawing, clay, collage and mixed media. They learn about the elements of art such as colour, line, shape and texture, while developing creativity, skills and safe work practices.
Students also explore artworks from Australian and international artists, building their ability to observe, discuss and appreciate art from different cultures and time periods.
Performing Arts includes music, drama and dance, where students create, rehearse and perform. These experiences help build confidence, teamwork and communication skills.
Music: Students sing, play instruments and explore different musical styles and cultures.
Drama: Students use voice, movement and role-play to tell stories and express ideas.
Dance: Students explore rhythm and movement, create routines and work collaboratively.
